This past May, MDFP was pleased to host Omari Carter, a screendance practitioner, lecturer, body percussionist, and founder and creative director of The Motion Dance Collective, based in London, England. Omari has collaborated with us as a performer in PROCESSION | CREATIVE, an assistant director for Refuge, and a screendance mentor for our film mentees.
What, and where, is home? Where and how do we find refuge? Here are the two questions expressed through different dance styles, body percussion, music, and voice at the heart of refuge, MDFP’s latest project. Six scenes were filmed in February and May 2022, with more planned for October.
