MONTREAL-based MDFP has forged a connection to artists, arts orgs and audiences in Italy for years: award- winning films, an MDFP retrospective, musical reinterpretations, artist residencies, public presentations, community workshops, recent research and exploration abroad with partners. We continue to trailblaze in our (re)imagining, collaborating, rehearsing, co-creating with our producing partners Associazione COORPI and Associazione Augenblick on our next film LANDED, slated for production in Italy September 2024.
MDFP migration stories embody their own deep rhythm to the human-land-connection as performance-based lyrical poems. LANDED is an equally provocative artistic meshing of artists — featuring poetry by Chandra Livia Candiani, musical arrangements by Italian musicians / composer Giorgio Li Calzi, Stefano Risso, vocalists Lapsus Lumine, a brass ensemble, contemporary dancers and community participants from Turin and Genoa. Along with members of MDFP from Montreal, composer Jean Fréchette and guest artist from Athens, body musician Yiota Peklari. Millar’s directorial finesse will collab with Genovese cinematographer Marzio Mirabella at the visual helm of this epic œuvre, and we are ready, (almost).
